A new technology for the growth of single crystals of a spinel oxide is proposed. This principally new approach consists in variation of crystalline morphology by varying a catalyst (HF acid) content in a single bath containing catalyst and the cation scavenger content (metal foil). ZnAl 2 O 4 cryst
