✦ Synopsis

Abstract

In this article, a novel type of compact tri‐band filter using stub‐loaded open‐loop ring resonators (OLRRs) is presented. With the open stub loaded, the resonant frequency of the OLRR can be tuned by the tapped location and length of the loaded stub, which makes the OLRR more compact. Making use of the microstrip open‐ended feed line, proper external couplings are provided to each passband by magnetic coupling. A tri‐band filter centered at 2.0 GHz, 3.2 GHz, and 4.3 GHz is designed, fabricated and measured. Predicted results are verified by the experiments. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract In this article, a dual‐band bandpass filter is designed by using microstrip stub‐loaded two‐mode resonators. Because the resonant frequencies of the odd‐mode and even‐mode of the stub‐loaded resonator can be varied individually, the midband frequencies of the dual‐bands of filter can b

## Abstract A novel EBG structure is proposed for a tunable and wide stop band (band gap). Although the proposed EBG, which consists of two microstrip open‐loop resonators located back to back, has only one unit cell inserted into the microstrip; it produces the characteristics of the general EBG s
