## Abstract The image technique is required in order to model perfect‐electric‐conductor and perfect‐magnetic‐conductor boundary conditions using the multiresolution time‐domain (MRTD) method. The strategy of directly imposing the image principle on the field‐expansion coefficients is valid only if

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A novel technique for the solution of electromagnetics problems in the time domain is proposed. In this technique, wavelet‐like functions are used as the basis set for the field components. The time‐domain algorithm is derived and examples using the technique are presented. Comparisons with analytic results and numerical results obtained using the finite‐difference time‐domain (FDTD) technique will be provided. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
