β¦ Synopsis
A novel eight-branched poly(ethylene glycol), PEG, macromer having a nitrocinnamate moiety as a pendant group was synthesized and found to form a photoscissile hydrogel upon exposure to 365 nm radiation in the absence of photoinitiators or catalysts. The processes of photocrosslinking and photocleavage were clearly characterized by environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM).

## Abstract The purpose of this research was to develop and characterize a gene delivery vehicle with a poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) backbone with the aim of overcoming limitations, such as cytotoxicity and rapid clearance, associated with current commonly used nonβviral carriers. PEG was functional
## Abstract A hydrogel incorporating the hydrophilic polymer poly(ethylene glycol) and a copolymer of acrylamide and styrene was synthesized, and the dynamics of the waterβsorption process were studied. The effects of the composition of the hydrogel and the temperature of the swelling medium were i
