✦ Synopsis
The pseudo three-dimensional coordination polymer [Zn(4,4bipy) (H 2 O) (SO 4 )] • 0.5H 2 O (1) was synthesized by the ethanothermal reaction of 4,4-bipyridine with ZnSO 4 • 7H 2 O in the molar ratio of 1 : 1 in a sealed tube at 120°C. The compound was characterized by FT-IR, diffuse reflectance UV/vis, X-ray powder diffraction, and single crystal X-ray analysis. The structure features two-dimensional interwoven networks stacked together by the complementary hydrogen bonding between layers.
