✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A novel compact microstrip bandpass filter using a dumbbell‐shaped defected ground structure (DGS) etched in ground plane under microstrip line is proposed. The bandpass characteristic is easy to obtain by adjusting the bandgaps of the DGS resonators. The filter has the advantages of compact size, high selectivity, and high out‐of‐band suppression due to the transmission zeros. The theoretical and experimental results of the proposed bandpass filter are presented and show good agreement. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
