✦ Synopsis

The cis-trans photoisomerization of 1-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)vinylidene-2,3-dimethylcyclopropanes in aerated acetonitrile was sensitized by 9,10-dicyanoanthracene and chloranil in the presence of an additive via an electron-transfer chain process, in which the cation radicals generated from the vinylidenecyclopropanes were involved as chain carriers.
