โฆ Synopsis
l-Aryl-2-(p-tolylazo)alkenes were synthesized starting flora alkyl aryl ketones in good overall yield. The employed three-step procedure involves: i) ct-p-tolylhydrazonylation of ketone enolates with tert-butyl p-tolylazosulfide 1; i 0 selective reduction of the earbonyl function of the obtained a-p-tolylhydrazono ketones 3 with NaBH4; ii 0 dehydration of the ensuing hydrazono alcohols 4 either in an Et20/dil. H2SO 4 two-phase system or in pyridine/aeetic anhydride.
