✦ Synopsis

Substituted 2,6-octadien-4-ynedial derivatives were synthesized, which give cyclopenta[b]thiapyran or cyclopenta[b]pyran derivatives by intramolecular cyclization. During the course of studies on dehydroannulenesl), we have investigated the synthesis of substituted octadienynedial derivatives which seemed to be potential precursors of dehydroannulenes.
