โฆ Synopsis
This note deals with the determination of the fundamental frequency of vibration of a thin, elastic plate elastically restrained against rotation along the boundary and subjected to a hydrostatic state of in-plane stress. A simple approximate expression is obtained which also allows calculation of the buckling pressure. Whenever it has been possible, the results have been compared with values existing in the open technical literature and very good agreement is shown to exist.
