✦ Synopsis
The benefit achie¨ed by substituting a superconducting coil for the existing ordinary coil in the antenna coupler employed with ( small-height HF ¨ehicular antennas whips, in¨erted Ls, and condenser ) types is determined herein by using the pre¨iously measured base currents of these antennas in conjunction with the measured Q of their existing coupler coil and the known equi¨alent circuit. It is shown that this benefit is not significant, being, at most, se¨eral decibels, and this only at the low end of the 1.8᎐30 MHz HF band. This is due to the fact that the ¨ehicle r ground-path resistance is so significant.
