β¦ Synopsis
Instability of a certain flow between heated vertical planes arises when a convective parameter y exceeds a critical value yC obtainedfrom the solution of a third-order eigenvalue problem. This problem involves a logarithmic singularity at the origin and an accurate determination of yC is achieved by a combination of series expansion and numerical integration techniques.
