The "rst remark of this paper is to disclose a historical fact that the assumed stress hybrid "nite element method pioneered by Pian [1] in 1964 was actually developed originally based on the Hellinger}Reissner principle and not on the complementary energy principle as indicated in the published pap

β¦ Synopsis
In this note, we make a few comments concerning the paper of Hughes and Akin (Int. J. Numer. Meth. Engng., 15, 733-751 (1980)). Our primary goal is to demonstrate that the rate of convergence of numerical solutions of the ΓΏnite element method with singular basis functions depends upon the location of additional collocation points associated with the singular elements.

The Boundary Element Method is a very e ective method for solving linear di erential equations. To use it also in the consideration of non-linear problems some di erent procedures were developed, among them the dual reciprocity method and the particular integral method. Both procedures use interpola

A quadrilateral based velocity-pressure-extrastress tensor mixed finite element method for solving the threefield Stokes system in the axisymmetric case is studied. The method derived from Fortin's Q2 -P1 velocitypressure element is to be used in connection with the standard Galerkin formulation. Th
