✦ Synopsis

In this note we establish an important property of the load potentials studied by Fisher [ 1] for position-and volume-dependent inflation pressures acting on the interior of a closed deformable surface: We show that these potentials are invariant with respect to perturbations of the type used by Graves [2] in the construction of a necessary condition for minimizers of multiple integrals. The implications of this result are examined in the context of membrane theory.
