Abstract

The published methods of calculating the minimum ground temperature after a clear night accompanied by radiational cooling are examined and a more comprehensive calculation is given which takes into account the physical properties both of the air and of the underlying surface. Some recent experimental data are adduced to support the contention that both the ground and the air supply the heat lost by radiation.
