✦ Synopsis

properties of the factors of both standard Fermat numbers, Fm = 22''~ + 1, and generalized Fermat numbers, Fro(a, b) = a 2m + b 2"~ , are reported. The properties are mainly related to the presence of common prime factors. Several anomalies in the distribution of factors are also analyzed. (~) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
