✦ Synopsis

A simple alternative derivation based on standard first-order perturbation theory in quantum mechanics is given for Cooley's energy correction formula which is employed in the popular iterative Numerov-Cooley method for numerically solving the one-dimensional eigenvalue Schrodinger equation.
