✦ Synopsis
Polyamines derived from C,, were characterized by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry in 1 : 1 methanoltoluene containing 2.5% trifluoroacetic acid. Peak assignments are consistent with the formula C600,(RNH2), for the protonated products. The preferential formation of the hexaaminated product C,,O,(RNH,), was also observed.
Mass spectrometry
All electrospray mass spectra were obtained on a Vestec Model 201 ESI mass spectrometer (a single quadrupole instrument'). The sample solution was infused directly CCC 0030-493X/94/040186-06 c) 1994 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd

This paper marks the first reported detection of radical cations by Electrospray-Ionization Mass Spectrometry (ESI-MS). Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) measurements have proven that the detected radical cation existed already in solution and has not been generated by the electrospray ionization techni
