β¦ Synopsis
The image NRD guide (iNRDG), a modification of the NRD guide, and the dielectric image line (DIL) are low-loss dielectric transmission lines. It is expected that they will be used in millimeter wave integrated circuits. In this paper, a transition guide from a coaxially fed iNRDG to a DIL with a linear flare at the junctions is proposed in order to allow smooth connection of an iNRD and a DIL. The operating principle of the flare at the junction between the iNRD and the DIL is analytically explored. Its validity is verified by a trial experiment.
