The synthesis of electrophilic iron carbene precursors from Fp anion and carboxonium salts of acetals is described.

Due to their usefulness in generating highly reactive, nonheteroatom-stabilized carbenes, preparation of precursors for electrophilic iron carbenes has received much attention recently.1
