The crystal structure of a copper(I) halide salt is reported which contains a new type of one-dimensional lattice network. The structure contains chains of alternating Cu 6 Cl 6 units and Cu 2 Cl 6 units. The Cu(I) ions have either distorted tetrahedral (three) or trigonal (one) coordination geometries. The halide coordination geometries are diverse: bent two coordinate (four), trigonal pyramidal three coordinate(one) and square pyramidal four coordinate (one).
