✦ Synopsis

A new phase cycling scheme is proposed for use in solid-state NMR experiments involving multiple n-pulses. The phase of the sequence follows the supercycled concept proposed a decade ago for heteronuclear decoupling experiments. Both theoretical and experimental results suggest that the concept of supercycling can be used in experiments' other than decoupling schemes, and may be of particular utility in novel solid-state NMR experiments for reintroduction of the dipolar interaction during magic angle spinning.

Three approaches to reducing image artifacts are described that are specific to multiple-pulse line-narrowing methods of NMR imaging. Gradient decoupling avoids excess line broadening from off-resonance gradient phase evolution by restricting the gradient to selected windows in which the gradient Ha
