Abstract
The requirement of high cost didactic resources makes “hydraulic and pneumatic systems” a difficult subject to teach. To overcome this problem, a Moodle resource based on XAMPP was developed. As a result, students' performance showed improvement and they secured better marks; future improvements are proposed. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Comput Appl Eng Educ 20: 419–425, 2012
