✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Scratches or any other defects in the polymer coating on metallic materials are preferred sites of increased corrosion attack. The undermining of coatings originating from such a damage is of great practical relevance and thus now as before also subject of scientific studies. In the paper a new method for in situ measurements of corrosion processes under coatings by using a sensor array will be presented. The progress of undermining originating from a scribe was determined by resistance and impedance measurements between individual sensor elements and the metallic substrate in dependency on the substrate material and other parameters.
