✦ Synopsis

A new assay is described for the activity of peptidyl-tRNA hydrolase on naturally occurring peptidyl-tRNA molecules. It takes advantage of the differential binding of the tRNA and peptide moieties to DEAE paper.

Peptidyl-tRNA hydrolase (Pth) activity ensures the rapid recycling of peptidyl-tRNAs that result from premature termination of translation. Historically, the hydrolyzing activity of Pth has been assayed with radiolabeled N-blocked aminoacyl-tRNAs in assay systems that require the separation of radio

A simple and reliable method is described for the determination of glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans in tissue extracts as well as during preparative and analytical procedures for these molecules. It is particularly useful because it requires much less starting material for the identification of

The use of the p-nitrophenyl-cu-L-rhamnopyranoside for the specific measurement of the (Yrhamnosidase activity of naringinase, by calorimetrically following the appearance of p-nitrophenolate anion, is proposed. Use of this synthetic substrate did not change the pH, temperature, or ionic strength op
