Abstract
A mechanistic study of hydride transfer based on (simplified) NADH/NAD^+^ model systems is given. The new model originates from a classical mechanism generally indicated as being an intramolecular nucleophilic displacement reaction. There is some controversy with the results of quantum‐chemical calculations.
