✦ Synopsis
A new technique, which use% an ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometer as an ion trap, is used to measure the autoionization rate of SF& In the present experiments, the SF< ion current is followed from 5 psec to 800 psec. The results show that SG does not decay by a simple, exponential. unimolecular process. Attempts to analyze the data in terms of unhnolecular decay of a single state leads to 'Iifetimes' which increase from C 0.3 msec to ca. 2 msec as the time delay between ion generation and analysis increases.
