โฆ Synopsis
Vertical double-fluted tubes exhibit a distmct improvement in heat transfer coefficient over smooth horizontal tubes. The resulting decrease in heat transfer surface permits a substantial decrease in the capital cost of a conventional multistate flash plant. Similarly. a reduction in the cost of vertical tube evaporators and horizontal tube spray-film plants can be achieved through the use of vertical double-fluted tubes in the preheatem and condenser sections_ This paper presents a computer-based plant design and economic analysis demonstrating the cost advantage of the vertical double-fluted concept over the conventional horizontal smooth tube plant.
