✦ Synopsis

Packed columns have become increasingly important for rectification in the past years. Research activities in distillation and in developing distillation equipment have led to high‐capacity packings as well as to the sandwich‐packing. The sandwich packing advantageously combines a number of characteristics of tray and packed columns. This work was aimed at was investigated the fluid dynamic behavior of the sandwich packing experimentally and theoretically.
