Abstract
A new isofuranonaphthalenone, (7__R__*,8__S__*)โ3,6,7,8โtetrahydroโ4,7,8โtrihydroxynaphtho[2,3โc]furanโ5(1__H__)โone (1), and a new benzopyran, (2__R__*,4__R__*)โ3,4โdihydroโ4โmethoxyโ2โmethylโ2__H__โ1โbenzopyranโ5โol (2), together with four known related analogs, 3โ6, were isolated from the culture of Nodulisporium sp. A4, an endophytic fungus from the stem of Aquilaria sinensis (Lour.) Gilg. The structures of the isolated compounds were determined by extensive analysis of their spectroscopic data as well as by comparison with literature reports. The isolated compounds 1โ6 were evaluated for their cytotoxic activities against the NCIโH460 and SFโ268 tumor cell lines.
