β¦ Synopsis
The concept of a generalized conforming elementi4 is used t o introduce a generalized compatibility condition under constant moment, and a new version of the generalized conforming triangular element for thin plate with nine degrees of freedom is developed. The formulation is as simple as for the conventional nonconforming element, and it can be implemented in a routine manner. By satisfying the generalized compatibility condition under constant moments, the present element can always pass the patch test, and convergence towards an exact solution is guaranteed. The element gives highly accurate results, requires fewer degrees of freedom, and is not sensitive to geometrical distortion.
