✦ Synopsis

A new beam propagation method BPM based on the expansion of a global basis function is introduced for the numerical simulation of field propagation in optical wa¨eguides. In dealing with the boundary truncation problem, tangent-type ¨ariable transformation is applied. To show the ¨alidity and usefulness of this approach, numerical results are shown for guided-mode propagation in a straight slab wa¨eguide and TE-wa¨e propagation through a tapered slab wa¨eguide.

In this work, we present an algorithm for solving fourth-order multi-point boundary value problems (BVPs) based on the reproducing kernel method (RKM). In previous works, the RKM has been used to solve various two-point BVPs. However, it cannot be used directly to solve multi-point BVPs, since it is

The acoustic radiation of general structures with Neumann's boundary condition using Variational Boundary Element Method (VBEM) is considered. The classical numerical implementation of the VBEM su ers from the computation cost associated with double surface integration. To alleviate this limitation,
