โœฆ Synopsis

The emission spectrum of the X2 'llsiz +X1 2f11,2 transition between the fine-structure components of the X *I-I, ground state of BiO has been observed in the near-infrared spectral region between I .3 and 1.6 Wm. The X2 z&,1 state of the radical was excited by near-resonant electronic-to-electronic (E-E) energy exchange from metastable Oz(a '4) molecules in a fast-flow system by mixing a flow ofbismuth vapour in Ar carrier gas with microwave-discharged oxygen. The Au=0 band sequence of the Eli0 system near 7085 cm-' was found to be the most intens molecular emission excited by energy transfer from metastable oxygen which hitherto has been observed. The electronic energy and the vibrational constants ofthe X2 'II,,2 state were deduced to be (in cm-' )

The Fourier transform infrared spectrum of H3SiI has been recorded in the nu1/nu4 region from 2075 to 2315 cm-1 at an optical resolution of 2.3 x 10(-3) cm-1. The nu1/nu4 fundamental bands and the (nu1 + nu3) - nu3/(nu4 + nu3) - nu3 hot bands have been rotationally investigated. Numerous local pertu
