โœฆ Synopsis

In this study an improvement factor for the transmission line parameters is proposed and its mathematical expression is formulated. The effect of this factor (with constant voltage at the receiving-end of the line) on the power, efficiency and attenuation of the travelling waves is investigated. The proposed concept is applied to a number of small parts of the line length and a mathematical expression for the modified series impedance of the line is deduced. The earth wires for the new ground path are studied under different conditions. An example of a typical 500 k V line is considered and a brief indication of the application of the proposed technique is presented. A grid system for the earth wires is required, the design of such earth wires depending on the mechanical conditions.
