โฆ Synopsis
This paper presents a new, approximate method of analysis in the classical style for the response of a thin plate to a single frequency, forced harmonic vibration. The plate may be quadrilateral or triangular, and it may have any boundary conditions. The distinctive feature of the method is the manipulation of certain tractable boundary conditions in order to obtain a solution which satisfies the given boundary conditions when the latter do not allow the direct calculation of a series solution. The tractable boundary conditions are described by finite Fourier series. This method may be applied to other boundary value problems for which there is a complete series solution to the governing differential equation.
