We present new results for radial scale factors, R0, of the lateral distribution function of extensive air shower electrons. It is shown that difficulties in the direct experimental estimation of R0 are no bar to primary mass composition deduction with weak sensitivity to hadronic interaction model

The experimental data provided by the KASCADE experiment are a basis for a multi-component analysis towards a determination of the mass composition and energy spectrum in the knee region. We discuss the method and procedures used for determining the energy and mass of the primary particle by applyin
