β¦ Synopsis
During the researches on thermophylic fungi our attention was drawn to a strain belonging to Aspergillus flavipes series (1) which demonstrated a strong activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
The strain F-2091/7 of our collection was grown in submerged culture in Erlenmeyer flasks of 500 ml capacity containing 100 ml of the following nutrient medium, a modification of that reported by Stoll and coworkers
(2): Sucrose g.100; Ca(N03)2 9.1; KH2P04 g. 0.250; MgSO4. 7H20 g. 0.250; KC1 g. 0.125; FeS04. 7H20 g. 0.033; ZnSO4. 7H20 g. 0.027; L-asparagine 9.10; L-cysteine hydrochloride g. 0.01; yeast extract g. 0.1; stock solution (MnS04. 7H20 g. 2; KJ g. 0.5; NiC12. 6H20 g. 0.05; CoC12. 6H20 g. 0.05; cuso 4. 5H20 g. 0.05; H3B03 g. 0.05; H2S04 ml. 1; distilled water to 1000 ml)
