## Abstract Phytochemical studies on __Veratrum nigrum__ L., collected in Shanxi, P.β€…R. China, resulted in the isolation of two new steroidal alkaloids, 23‐methoxycyclopamine (**1**) and 15‐__O__‐(2‐methylbutanoyl)‐3‐__O__‐veratroylprotoverine (**2**). The structures of the two new compounds were e
