A multimodal milieu treatment a proach for alcoholism was assessed in a prison setting by use of the MMPf. The participants had a mean age of 41, four prior incarcerations, and documented difficulty with alcohol abuse prior t o their incarceration. Analysis of an A-€3 treatment design showed significant changes on the F, PT, Es ( p < .05), L, K, D, &,.and A.(p < .01) scales of the MMPI after 6 months of program participation. With the exception of the PD scale, all changes were seen as positive. It should be noted that the PD zcale may not be the most appropriate indicator of positive behavioral changes in a prison setting.
