✦ Synopsis

A new multicast routing algorithm reducing congestion is presented in this article. The algorithm uses efficient routing by transmitting multicast packets across fewer links in the network. In addition, the algorithm balances the use of network nodes and links by reducing packet duplication in the nodes.

This paper presents a simple, generic source-based end-to-end multicast congestion control (GSC) algorithm for reliable multicast transport (RMT) protocols. The algorithm is completely implemented at the source and leverages the reverse control information ¯ow in RMT protocols like PGM or RMTP. Spec
