โฆ Synopsis
Ionic activities (hl'* = Zn2+, CL*+) are calculated for cumplex mixtures of salrs (Nail and MCIz) and pulyelectrolytes (sodium deytmn sulfate) from ;L numerical solution of a modified Poisson-Boltzmann equation accordinK to a cell model. These results compare very well with ehperimental spectrophotometric dererminalions usinng tetramethylmurexide a_~ a dye indicator 1_ The model Kwak et al. [I -31 have measured ionic actlvitres for complex mixtures of salts in the presence of a _ Ei(r) = ei[U(r) -*k(R)] + JCTIIl ri(r), polyelectrolyte by using a spectrophotometric method. Thus, they are able to study interactions of ions with biopolyelectrolytes under phyG.olag%al conditions [3], i.e. at concentratrons where classical electrochem-
