Abstract
A modified finite‐difference time‐domain (FDTD) code is presented for the line response characterization of a transmission line illuminated by a Gaussian pulse‐modulated electromagnetic signal. The final expressions are transformed according to the complex‐envelope representation in order to omit the high‐frequency carrier contribution and thus provide an accurate solution of the coupling phenomenon by avoiding the computational burden of the conventional FDTD algorithm. Comparison results between the conventional FDTD method and the modified one are presented, showing the advantages of the novel method. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
