β¦ Synopsis
The device used in /5/ for solving the three-dimensional analogue of Goursat's problem consists in replacing the initial problem by a series of successive well-posed problems of flow past an unknown wall, in which the wall is later defined by methods of minimizing certain discrepancies.
Another device is to use coarse mesh steps, whereby, if the initial data are specified with good accuracy, the solution can be obtained with acceptable accuracy. This device, for the regularization of the three-dimensional Cauchy problem in the direction of the vector s, was used in /6/ when solving the conjugate problem for Lagrange multipliers.
