✦ Synopsis

The thermal decomposition of n-hexane, cyclohexane and cyclopentane over metallurgical coke, spectral carbon, and quartz glass has been investigated. The pulse technique of injecting samples into the N, carrier gas before the heated reactor combined with the gas chromatograph enabled us to obtain kinetic data on the basis of which the nature of pyrolytic processes could be demonstrated. The metallurgical coke favoured greatly the formation of aromatics from the hydrocarbons studied.
