The fluorescence behavior of porphyrins and phthalocyanines allows one to discriminate between monomeric and associated states of the dyes. These criteria are necessary prerequisites to decide about the inclusion behaviour of the dyes in oligomeric cyclodextrins. Masking the hydrophobic portion of t
