The singlet oxygen ene reaction in Methylene Blue doped NaY was examined. A new mechanism is proposed which involves complexation of the sodium cation to the pendant oxygen in the perepoxide intermediate. It is argued that this complexation leads to greater positive charge on the carbon framework an

โฆ Synopsis
A theoretical model incorporating diffusion and reaction which takes place via the adsorbed state is proposed for highly p-xylene selective catalysts. Based upon the measured values of diffusivities, adsorption equilibrium constants and reaction rate constants, the modified model is used to explain and predict the high para-selectivities in toluene disproportionation and xylene isomerization. The agreement between theory and experiment is good.
