## Abstract In epidemiologic studies on human colorectal tumors, results on the relative protective effect of soluble and insoluble fibers are not consistent. We studied in this work the effect in rats of feeding guar gum or guar gum together with cellulose on the incidence of colorectal tumors ind

✦ Synopsis
A model for estimating the OH absorption peak in optical fibers gi¨en the attenuation ¨alues at 1.3, 1.4, and1.55 m has been de¨eloped. The model has been tested against the experimental data of a monomode fiber, and found to be within 5% of the experimental data. An attempt has been made to identify the cause of the de¨iation between the experimental and mathematical model.
