✦ Synopsis

A model for phase-transition-related zero-order thermal desorption is proposed and discussed. It involves the coexistence of two phases, a dense phase and a dilute phase. It further assumes that desorption only occurs from the dense phase and the densities of each phase are constant during the desorption and phase transition. The model eventually links the rate of thermal desorption with that of the phase transition by a simple equation. It further indicates that if a thermal desorption is related to a phase transition between two phases with different densities, the desorption is always zero order.
