For the equation of torsional rigidity, using the unique continuation of analytic function, we get a sharp minimum principle for a combination of the solution and its gradient. As an application, a lower bound for the minimum stress on the boundary is obtained.

We consider a singularly perturbed boundary value problem with two small parameters. The problem is numerically treated by a quadratic spline collocation method. The suitable choice of collocation points provides the discrete minimum principle. Error bounds for the numerical approximations are estab
New numerical models for simulation of physical and chemical phenomena have to meet certain qualitative requirements, such as nonnegativity preservation, maximum-minimum principle, and maximum norm contractivity. For parabolic initial boundary value problems, these properties are generally guarantee
