β¦ Synopsis
Using nitrogen as an example, a new method of establishing equations of state for pure fluid substances is demonstrated. With the aid of these equations exact phase equilibrium data can be calculated. This method together with a new equation of state permits the vapour pressure and the densities on the phase boundary curves to be calculated directly from the equation of state (application of the Maxwell criterion). From the critical point to the triple point values are obtained which are of high accuracy and which lie within the deviation range of the results measured throughout the whole of the range.
